Interaction between particle and structure widely exists in engineering application. As a continuum, mechanical structure optimization analysis usually uses finite element software for simulation analysis. Whereas as a discreet medium, the movement of granular material is simulated by discrete element software.Through coupling finite element method and discrete element method, deriving the contact load in discrete element model, and converting the contact load into the node load applied in finite element analysis, their respective advantages will be brought into play, the impact of particle on structure will be analyzed, which supplies a basis for the evaluation of stiffness and strength of the structure.This thesis mainly researches on the technical route and algorithm implementation of the application of combined finite-discrete element method by using Finite Element Software ABAQUS,Discrete Element Software PFC3D and Math Software MATLAB.The main contributions of this thesis are listed as follows:(1) Finite element model of the structure is established by ABAQUS, and finite element meshes information is obtained through Python programming language.(2) MATLAB accomplishes surface extraction of mechanical model oriented to PFC3D model.(3) Discrete element model based on PFC3D is established to simulate contact process between particle and structure and output the contact force of the boundary wall.(4) MATLAB accomplishes DEM-FEM mapping transformation of the contact load, equivalently displaces surface contact force to the corresponding node of finite element model, and acquires the node load.
