Friction and abrasion properties and mechanism of natural rubber vulcanizates was mainly studied in this paper, the influence of the filling systems and the vulcanization system on the properties, the process of the DIN abrasion, the law of friction between NR and metal friction pair, and the multiple linear regression between the abrasion and mechanical properties were the almost details.Firstly, abrasion resistance of the four different vulcanization system for NR was studied and the order of the abrasion volume is SEV<EC<CV<EV. The addition of NS and DTDM can obviously improve the abrasion resistance.The relationship between dynamic properties for NR and the abrasion was determined and found that the abrasion resistance of vulcanizates increased with storage energy modulus. Carried out the formulation optimization through the orthogonal experiment semi-effective vulcanization system and the optimal formula are obtained.Secondly, the influence of the filled system on abrasion resistance for NR was studied and found that silica was benefit for abrasion. When the silica cotent was 30phr, vulcanizates obtained comprehensive properties; When the Si-75 content was 6%, rubber obtained better abrasion resistance.Further more,in the friction test between NR and metal friction pair, the destruction of the vulcanizates was due to stick-slip vibration. The range of friction torque increased gradually and the friction coefficient increased firstly and decreased then with load increasing, friction torque reduced and the time cycle range reduced with speed increasing; A prolonged friction torque ultimately tended to a stable value.In the DIN abrasion test,the abrasion volume of vulcanizates increased firstly and decreased then with the increase of wear mileage and a maximum value appeared in the second stage; Crosslinking density decreased firstly and increased then and filled vulcanizates the opposite.By abrasion pattern analysis, the better was the abrasion resistance, the more narrow was the grinding crack abrasion on the surface of and smaller was the grinding crack spacing; there are a lot of traces of shear tensile and tear shed on DIN abrasion surface.Used SPSS software to established multivariate linear regression equation for DIN abrasion volume and mechanical properties, and the abrasion volume is inversely proportional to the tensile strength and elongation at break.
