Protein Flame Retardant’s Synthesis And Application On Cotton Fabric

Cotton for its excellent wearability is widely used in garment fabric.But the cotton fabric is flammable, each year as a result of cotton textiles caused loss of life and property of the people is huge, so cotton flame retardant finishing is very important. Today the most commonly used flame retardant on cotton is N hydroxymethyl 3(two methoxy phosphono) propanamide made in Swiss Ciba geigy company. It has excellent flame retardant properties, fracture strength has little effect on cotton fabric. But the biggest drawback of this flame retardant is hydroxymethyl in finishing and taking process will release formaldehyde, So a new halogen free,formaldehyde free environment-friendly cotton has become a hot issue in the development of flame retardant.This study selected cheap gelatin as the source of nitrogen, phosphorous acid as a phosphorus source, According to the Mannich reaction mechanism of synthesis of a phosphorus nitrogen intumescent flame retardant,protein flame retardant. According to the flame retardant cotton fabric formation optimize the best synthesis technology.To characterize the flame retardant structure using infrared spectroscopy, using thermogravimetric heat stability of flame retardants were analyzed. According to the effect of flame retardant on cotton fabric flame retardant performance and the physical performance, optimize the best finishing process of flame retardant. By TGA and SEM were discussed on the flame retardant mechanism. Although gelatin flame retardants in durability than with traditional cotton flame retardant, but applied in Non durable finish gelatin flame retardant showed better flame retardance. So this research has certain research significance, it is worth further study.
