Three Dimensional Printing (3DP) is a digital rapid prototyping technology that enables fabrication of physical objects directly from CAD data sources. Stereolithography (SL) uses photosensitive resin material for building parts with advantages such as high curing speed, high precision and material utilization, etc. A SL equipment with digital droplet printhead that has higher prtining speed and precision and also can machine prototypes in any complex shape is designed in this dissertation. The development of SL system mainly consists of mechanical design and optimization of the structure. Besides, this paper focuses on the research of accuracy of the designed equipment and experiments in order to improve system precision and stability.Firstly, the compoud movement structure in X-Y plane is designed based on operating principle of the equipment, reducing the deformation and improving the stability in driving. Optimization design is conducted for Z motion structure, saving the movement space and ensuring transmission accuracy; the nozzle structure, the sliding mechanism and frame structure and so on are devised according to the characteristics of molding, ensuring the working reliability and convenience for assembling. All the designing of the structure and virtual assembly are completed in the three-dimensional software.Secondly, after aborative analysis of factors affected the accuracy of molding parts, special simples are designed for experiments and the influence of the forming direction and after curing shrinkage deformation phenomenon, etc are mainly studied. Several parameters are selected to research the influencing factors of dimensional accuracy by orthogonal experimental method and optimal factor settings are obtained.The research method has a certain value of engineering application; it has built a platform for the further research of SL equipment.
