The HSM(High-Speed Machining) technology was an important component cell of machinery manufacturing, it was one of the advanced manufacture techniques for the changeful society need and the fast step development. With the in-depth application and development of CAD/CAM/CAE technology, the development of machinery industry not only provided more opportunities to high-speed processing, but also presented higher challenges in future. High-speed spindle played a crucial role in the HSM, its performance was directly related with the accuracy and quality of products. Constantly, the high-speed spindle’s design was particularly important. In order to improve design efficiency and provide retrospective design, with digital design technology though and high-speed spindle design blend together, so changed the traditional design concepts and methods. In this paper, the design calculation and 3D modeling of high-speed spindle was developed by digital design platform, which can provide certain references and guidance for this type of high-speed spindle.According to the requirements, this paper has mainly carried on the following work:(1) Accessed to large amounts of data, summarized the current development trend of high-speed machining technique and its major technology, at the same time, accessed to relating-knowledge of database and SolidWorks secondary development, to prepare for the secondary development.(2) This paper was analyzed the feasibility and necessity for system design, based on the establishment of digital system overall program, determined the overall structure and Analysis process, and draw the corresponding graphics.(3) Developed the system interface by Visual Basic6.0 object-oriented programs, integrated the issue digital development module. Designed and managed background information by Access database technology, it convenient to invocation and management.(4) Using SolidWorks API functions for SolidWorks secondary development, with connected the Spindle design and calculation module, and then function of automatic modeling 、virtual assembly and interference checking was achieved in SolidWorks.(5) Proceeded spindle static Analysis in workbench to analyze static deformation of axis, on this base, the axis’ stiffness carried out, and then determined the rationality of Spindle design, preliminarily.(6) For researching the spindle vibration conditions under stress states, Dynamic analysis of finite element model for spindle was carried out by ANSYS workbench, with detailed analysis of spindle modal and harmonic frequency characteristics,spindle natural frequencies and corresponding critical speeds and vibrations were derived. The results showed that the spindle can effectively avoid the resonance region, and had little radial deformation caused by cutting force with working, it did not affect the processing quality, the spindle design was reasonable.
