High speed and high precision is one of the main developing tendencies of modern machine tool. The design of machine tool is also put forward higher requirements.More advanced and appropriate methods are needed to design machine tool.As the core parts of high speed processing machine, spindle module of machine tool should have a higher dynamic and static rigidity and the ability to resist heat distortion, and its all performances have great impact on whole machine. Therefore, the design of spindle module is particularly important while developing the high speed machine tool. As the complexity of the design of the high speed spindle of machine tool, it is difficult to meet the rapidly changing product requirements with traditional design methods ,which have long production cycle, high costs, inconvenient design and change.Digital design is just such a new technology to satisfied the requirements, it is a product development technology which through information modeling and information processing to improve manufacturing processes, improve manufacturing efficiency and product quality, reduce manufacturing costs. Digital design makes full use of computer's calculation, storage, management, and transfer functions to make the design of machine tools more precise, economic and efficient.According to the practical needs, with the emphasis on structure design and performance analysis of high speed spindle system of CNC machine tools, using digital design technology, secondary development technology, finite element analysis technology and so on to develop and research a high speed spindle system in digital. Details of studies are as follows:(1) Based on actual demand and the aims of the study, formulates the overall structure of the system, and draws flow charts.(2) The complex design process of spindle is designed to be friendly software interface using the Delphi programming language, which facilitates users to design, calculate and check, and data are stored in the database to prepare for three-dimensional modeling.(3) SolidWorks API is used to the secondary development on SolidWorks, the data generated by design and calculation of the spindle as the basic size, automatically generates three-dimensional solid model, and is connected to the design and calculation module of the spindle.(4) APDL language is used to the secondary development of finite element analysis software ANSYS, and the system automatically extracts spindle size data to establish finite element model and complete the static analysis, modal analysis and harmonic response analysis of the spindle ,providing the basis for further structural optimization and design. High speed spindle system of CNC machine tools is established with digital design technology, the main function can be satisfied with requirements of the subject. The time of design and repeat process is reduced, and the efficiency is improved. It has a high practical value and good promising in application.
