In recent years, the HABs outbreak in coastal countries and regions worldwide, which have an increasing tendency in terms of their frequency, intensity and geographic distribution. Some HABs species can release phycotoxin which can acuminate in shellfish through the food chain and potential threaten the safety of human consumers. Lipophilc Shellfish Toxins(LSTs), which have high detection rate in shellfish samples, cause serious economic damage to the marine aquaculture industy. In 2011, a serious DSP event outbroke in the cities of Ningbo and Fuding, caused by the consumption of contaminated mussels, which attracted considerable attention. This study selected two aquaculture zones in Gouqi Island and Qingchuan Bay as research areas to discuss the main components and possible sources of LSTs in aquaculture zones of East China Sea by combining a two-year period monitoring of toxin components and contents in different shellfish species and toxin analysis results of Dinophysis cells. In addition, SPATT (Solid Phase Absorption Toxin Tracking) was applied to monitoring the LSTs in coastal water in aquaculture zone of Qingdao, and combining the cell density and toxin components of toxic algae and the toxin components and contents in shellfish, preliminarily explore the relationship among toxic dinoflagellate, shellfish acumination and SPATT monitoring. The main conclusions of this study are as follows:(1)The Dinophysis spp. distributed-in Gouqi Island and Qingchuan Bay are mainly Dinophysis caudata. The predominate toxin is PTX2, accompanied by trace amount of OA and DTX1. D. acuminata, D. rotundata and D. fortii were found in aquaculture zone of Qingdao, Yellow Sea, and the main toxin is PTX2, OA and DTX1 were lower than LOD.(2)A low amount of GYM was frequenctly detected in shellfish and potentical threaten the food safety of Gouqi Island aquaculture zone. OA, DTX1, PTX2 and PTX2sa was occasionally detected in shellfish samples, and show an obviously seasonal distribution from the end of May,2013 to the beginning of July,2013, no seasonal distribution was found in annual monitoring of 2014.(3)SPATT sample analysis show that OA, DTX1 and PTX2 were detected in different water layers but the concentration of these toxins had no obvious difference. The predominate toxin in the samples of different size particles was PTX2, accompanied with occasional detection of OA and DTX1. No correlation was found between the toxin components and contents of particles and the sizes. This paper illustrated the toxin components and species of Dinophysis spp. in the aquaculture zones of East China Sea and Yellow Sea, revealed the component characteristics of LSTs in the research areas, and made a beneficial attempt to explore the relationship among toxic dinoflagellate, shellfish acumination and SPATT monitoring, which had an important research value to the protection of aquaculture industy and human safety.
