Enviromental protection and energy saving are the development ideas in rubber industry currently, and how to improve the filler dispersion and utilization in rubber is a hot topic. Based on the phenomenon that mixing of fluids is easy, our paper focused on improving the dispersion of filler by wet method. Then we studied the effect of improving dispersion of fillers on the mechanical properties, processability, and viscoelasticity of the natural rubber (NR) nanocomposites.First, the method that how to prepare carbon black (CB) suspension was studied, and we proposed the mechanism of pre-coagulation. The effect of solvent, CB concentration and temperature on CB/NR masterbatch were also studied. The results show that ethanol was the most appropriate solvent and the best CB concentration was (w.t.) 5%. The carbon black particle size in CB/NR masterbatch varies from 60 nm to 80 nm, and the mechanical property was the best when the temperature was between 0℃ to 27℃.Second, to make the natural rubber latex (NRL) more homogeneous, we used the preliminary-inverse coagulation method (PIC) to prepare CB/NR masterbatch, and we studied the interaction between carbon black and natural rubber. The results show that the interaction between carbon black and natural rubber and mechanical properties were improved obviously with the preliminary-inverse coagulation (PIC) method compared with dry and pre-coagulation method. An ideal method of self-coagulation was proposed based on the characterization of pre-coagulation in order not to add extra flocculation agents. Though the mechanical properties were improved obviously, there was some latex lost. So there are some space for the method to improve. Anyway this method provides a good idea for spray dry to prepare CB/NR masterbatch in order to guarantee both mechanical properties and NRL utilization.
