With increasing importance of combustible gas in the energy mix, the research on characteristics of the gas explosion is also increasing. The numerical simulation of energy characteristics on multi gas-mixture gas explosion always aims at the one containing methane. At the same time, the study of carbon monoxide and hydrogen gas is only valid for the general synthetic gas, thus the pressure is greater than one atmosphere. The recycle of waste heat and metallurgical furnace gas involves high temperature and ambient pressure. But research under this condition is insufficient. In this paper, the large chemical dynamics software Chemkin is used to explore the characteristics of metallurgical furnace gas at high temperature and atmospheric conditions. The GAS-PHASE KINETICS input file was compiled and the simulation model was set according to the study of A.Frassoldati on H2 and CO combustion model. The results between experimental data from other scholars and simulation data was compared. And the results showed that the model has good adaptability in the vicinity of the equivalence ratio. Based on this, the mechanism of the reaction on CO/H2 mixture has been studied, and here came the conclusions:(1) The oxidation of CO/H2 mixture contains a set of complex chain branch reactions..(2) During the oxidation of the gas mixture, CO+ OH= CO2+ H (R23) is the main oxidation mechanism of CO. When the concentration of CO is fixed and the kind of inert gas remains the same, the change of H2 fraction between 1% and 10% has no effect on best reaction concentration. But addition of H2 promotes oxidation rate and the conversion of CO.(3) When H2 and CO are fixed, the ingredient of inert gas plays an important role on best reaction concentration. With the increase of CO, the equilibrium temperature and pressure of gas mixture decrease, and the induction time increases.
