Research and development different kinds of left handed materials becomes one of hot research areas in electromagnetic field and microwave region. The Left-handed material has many extraordinary electromagnetic properties, which could be lead to unusual electromagnetic phenomenona, such as negative index refractive, inverse Cherenkov Effect, Reversed Doppler Effect and so on.it can be used for the preparation of novel electromagnetic devices, and such as perfect lens and invisibility devices.it also has a broad application prospect on improving traditional electromagnetic device.In this thesis the main contents and contributions are as follows:(1) Background, present situation and basic properties of left-handed materials are introduced. the research progresses and the basic characteristics of left handed transmission line are focused on.(2) The theory of the transmission line, transfer matrix and effective medium are proposed. These are the Theoretical basis to explore and design in left-handed transmission line.(3) Based on the transmission line, the possibility of improving characteristics using electromagnetic materials has been analyzed. A novel method of building transmission line based on low pass circuit with filling negative permeability medium in inductance and negative permittivity medium in capacitor is proposed. According to transfer matrix method, the basic electromagnetic properties of left handed transmission line is discussed via numerical simulation(4)On the basis of effective medium theory, the linear electromagnetic metal particle composite response characteristics is discussed. the new way of preparation of isotropic left handed materials with compound containing linear metal particles and dielectric material are put foward. a study of proper applications by the compound containing linear metal particles and dielectric material in left-handed transmission line are made.
