As a part of Meta-materials, the LHM (left-handed material) is a new type of artificial materials. Compared with regular material, it has some unusual parameters value, simultaneously negative permeability and permittivity. The electromagnetic wave propagated in the LHM will also have some irregular characteristics of converse effect, such as negative refraction, contrary Doppler effect, reverse Cerenkov radiation. According to the special parameters of the artificial material, some new type compact antennas and microwave devices can be designed, the technique can also be applied to wireless communication and defense industries. Super-lens made of Meta-material contributes more to the medical application. In 2003, American journal Science awarded LHM as one of the top ten scientific advancements. In order to explore the most value of LHM, we must actually grasp its characteristic. In this dissertation, we study and analyze the properties and structure of LHM. The contests are arranged as follows.First, we study the research condition on LHM around the world, and then make detail description about the wave reflection and transmission. We also compare the difference between LHM and RHM (right-handed material). Perfect imaging theory is critical mentioned.We make good effect in analyzing the construct fundamentals on LHM. Both metal structure model and LC model are discussed. Theory and experimental methods are used to explain why LHM has a negative index of refraction.In addition, several structure with LHM properties are simulated, and a new structure with Lens configure is put forward in the dissertation. MWS software is used to realize the simulation of these structures.At last, analysis based on zero permeability and permittivity is put forward as a supposition.
