Blast furnace slag fiber direct gas quenching fibrosis using liquid blast furnace slag, through adding adhesive which has good bonding properties, can be processed into industrial insulation materials with thermal insulation performance, such as pipe insulation materials. The preparation and the use of heat preservation material can not only save energy, but also can reduce the burden on environment, which has important significance.Using scanning electron microscope(SEM) analysis the fiber diameter of blast furnace slag, slag ball, chemical stability. The results show that the fiber surface of blast furnace slag is smooth cylindrical, slag ball content is low and the fiber diameter is about 6.8 microns or so, fiber acid performance is a bit poor, but it has better chemical stability in alkaline solution.The polyvinyl alcohol and polyvinyl butyral were used as binder for experimental preparation of pipe insulation materials, Studied the influence law of the binder concentration and the curing temperature on pipe heat preservation material bulk density, compressive strength and moisture absorption rate, the results show that, Pipe insulation material bulk density, compressive strength, moisture absorption rate increased as the concentration of the binder increases; Pipe insulation material density with the increase of curing temperature showed a trend that first decreased and then increased; the changing of compressive strength with the increase of curing temperature is that first increased and then decreased.Through the above effects, the curing temperature of heat preservation material with polyvinyl alcohol as binder was 140℃, binder concentration was 3% with low density and high compressive strength, thermal conductivity is 0.0284 W/(m · K). The concentration of polyvinyl butyral was 4%, the curing temperature is 120℃ in the preparation of thermal insulation material, the bulk density and moisture absorption rate were low, thermal conductivity is 0.0206 W/(m·K), and the product can meet the requirements of thermal insulation material.
