Roll grinder is one of the important equipment in grinding production, it is widely used in rolled steel, metallurgy, paper making, rubber and other industries.With the rapid development of high speed grinding technology, higher requirements is put forward for grinding speed and grinding performance of roll grinder. Grinding head is the core part of the high speed roll grinder, and it has a great influence on grinding performance. Therefore, it is a key content that study the grinding head system in development high speed roll grinder.Based on grinding head structure of domestic general roll grinder, and considering job requirements and performance characteristics of high speed roll grinder, a kind of grinding head of high speed roll grinder is designed in this paper,and then some relevant researches about the grinding head are carried out.Firstly, based on the analysis of the high speed grinding theory, the grinding process parameters of high speed roll grinder, including grinding force, grinding efficiency and surface roughness of grinding are calculated. Combined with general roll grinder’s process parameters and the advantage of high speed roll grinder is gained, and the meaning in development the high speed roll grinder is verified.According to the grinding process parameters, the structure of grinding head system of high speed roll grinder, including pulley, spindle, liquid hybrid bearing,grinding wheel, grinding wheel frame and other parts is designed.The structure of grinding head system is analyzed by ANSYS software, the analysis contents include linear static analysis, modal analysis and harmonious response analysis. In order to check the design whether meet the requirement, the linear statics analysis is carried out, and the stress strain diagram of the grinding head system is gained. In order to determine natural frequency and vibration mode of the grinding head system, the modal analysis is carried out, and the top six order natural frequency is gained. In order to understand the deformation of the grinding head system under external loading, the harmonic response analysis is carried out, and thedeformation value of the grinding head system is gained.Finally, it is a key problem that temperature changes of grinding head system. In order to obtain temperature value, steady-state thermal analysis is carried out, and temperature value and the highest temperature rise of the grinding head system is obtained by simulation analysis. The simulation result shows the highest temperature occurs in the front of liquid hybrid bearing, and temperature rise exceeds the allowable value. Therefore, optimization design of the bearing is needed. After optimization design, steady-state thermal analysis of the grinding head system is carried out, contrasting the results before and after the optimization, the temperature of the optimized liquid hybrid bearing drops to a reasonable scope, and the goal of the optimization design is achieved.A kind of grinding head of high speed roll grinder is designed in this paper, the stress and strain, the top six order natural frequency value, the deformation under sine load, temperature distribution and temperature rise of the grinding head system is obtained. It provides some references information for our country to realize high speed roll grinder localization.
