Along with the automobile, high speed train, aerospace, nuclear power and new energy equipment rapid development, new requirements of the gear transmission are put forward, transferring movement and power in high-speed, high efficiency, stable and reliable accurately in various working conditions. Generally, gear transmission is developing to high precision, hard tooth surface, complex modification. Due to high performance-price ratio, good good versatility, simple structure of machine tool, higher productivity, form gear grinding is widely concerned. Supported by 12 th Five-Year National Key Technology R&D Plan-The Production Technology Development and Industrialization Demonstration of Small and Medium Sized Machine Remanufacturing, a affordable form grinding machine tool is remanufactured by redesign and remanufacturing repair and upgrade, which is cost-effcetive and achieves the 5-6 level of grinding accuray. As one of the key technology used in affordble gear form grinding machine tool development, directly effect tooth grinding precision, efficiency and cost of machine tool, so development research and application of grinding wheel dressing technology has important significance.In this paper,calculation theory of grinding wheel cross sectional shape is studied, dressing process error analyzed, the error compensation method is estabilished, grinding wheel dressing system and its supporting software is developed, to provide theoretical support and guarantee for affordble gear form grinding machine tool development.Firstly, based on analysis of the movement of form grinding wheel and gear, coordinate system of form grinding wheel and gear is established for grinding wheel dressing system of affordable form grinding machine tool. Through the gear geometric parameters, modification parameters, processing parameters and other parameters,tooth profile equation and tooth surface equation with a modification are established for the external helical gear as example. Suppose design tooth and form grinding wheel meshing, the contact line is concluded. Discrete points for dressing grinding wheel profile are achieved by rotating the contact line to the axial section of grinding wheel. Through double arc fitting the discrete points and adding transition arc, the grinding wheel profile finally obtained. This method is extended to form grinding wheel calculation of the external spur gear, internal spur and helical gears by coordinate transformation.Secondly, form grinding gear wheel dressing system is introduced and error evaluation standard and error model is proposed based on summarizing error factors existing in the process of grind wheel precision dressing. Combined with the analysis of an example, error factors of grinding wheel dressing process are analyzed after derivation of error analysis algorithm. Through the tooth error correcting transverse tooth profile, a compensation method of form grinding wheel dressing error is put forward, recalculating the grinding wheel cross-sectional shape using the numerical simulation method and verified through an example.Finally, grinding wheel dressing technology is applicated in affordable gear form grinding machine tool, grinding wheel dressing method is selected, the grinding wheel dressing system is planned, the part of hardware are selected or designed, control system based on the MPC2810 and support software are developed, online dressing form grinding wheel is achieved.
