In order to study the influence factors and explore the influence rule of the binary particles mixture and segregation in a rotating drum, this thesis focuses on experimental and simulation study.I independently design and manufacture a rotating drum test bench, and select a variety of granular materials to perform group experiment and qualitative analysis. Software named PFC2D is used to simulate the mixing and segregation of the binary particles in the cylinder. I perform the simulation to check the experimental result as well as to expand the scope of my research. The analysis of the experimental results is mainly qualitative analysis, while that of the simulation includes qualitative and quantitative analysis. The quantitative parameter is Lacey index which is a statistical magnitude. The following conclusions are obtained by the experiment and simulation:factors such as particle diameter, density, surface friction coefficient and drum rotational speed, loading capacity, lifting board all have influence on the mixing and segregation of the binary particles in the rotating drum. Drum section shape and initial loading form have no obvious effect on particle mixing and segregation. Particle diameter and density are the main influence factors. Particle surface friction coefficient influences whether the mixing and segregation can happen, if so the particle surface friction coefficient has no effect on the mixed result. If the value of rotational speed and lifting board are within a certain range, increasing the value has positive effect on the mixture quality. It has no benefit to the mixing result, if the values are out of the reasonable range. Increasing the loading capacity will intensify the radial segregation or extend mixing time.
