The Research Of Maternity Clothes Emotional Design

The experience economy has placed higher demands on consumer emotion need for product design. Emotional design, whose theory and applications were born for emotion need, emerged as the times require. Emotional design theory has been applied to product design, environment design, interaction design etc, however, there is few thorough research on the fashion design,It is necessary to introduce further emotional design into fashion design. Since entering twenty-first Century, China is experiencing a new round of baby boom. As for maternity clothes, although pregnant women have new expect, the homogeneity of styles exits, and their emotion need of maternity clothes is not considered, which offer the great design leeway and huge market potential for maternity clothes. Moreover, due to the lack of specialized design method for maternity clothes, systematic researches on maternity clothes are urgently wanted.So in this investigation, the theory of Emotional design in fashion design is discussed, using the example of maternity clothes.By combing the theory emotional design, classification of maternity clothes and prospects of maternity clothes design, this thesis reviewed design elements based on the three levels of emotional design and the applicable conditions to maternity clothes design. We hererin analyzed the physical and psychological changes of pregnant women and made questionnaires on their consuming psychology, summarized pregnant women’s emotion need of maternity clothes. The representation element, design principles and methods of emotional maternity clothes design were induced. Further, design practices were performed to test the feasibility of emotional maternity clothes design.This investigation attempted to apply emotinal design theory to fashion design. Hopefully, this investigation on representation, design principles and methods of emotional maternity clothes design can give references to fashion design.
