The Art Of Manipulating Garment Fabric

In recent years of domestic and international fashion runway, many designers would like to reshape the fabric in three-dimensional shape as a form of creative expression. Especially some avant-garde designer, on the one hand, have been looking out the possibility of diversity of tridimensional shape of fabric which can achieve by practicing a variety of traditional arts and crafts; On the other hand constantly explore the new technology and new material forward to achieve more breakthrough design. This research is based the above sources. In view of the common fabrics on the market, this research tap the potential of fashion language to complete the three-dimensional reconstruction design of the garment fabric.Tridimensional restruction of garment fabric based on itself refers to the starting from the features of the fabric, that use all the manipulating skills like carving, cutting, quilting, folding, stacking, shrinking, weaving, embossing, smocking, etc, to find a method of changing the shape of the original surface. This can be fully performance the concave- convex, perspective, wrinkles and other effects of clothing fabric. This can change along with people’s point of view and the transformation of light and shadow showing a different three-dimensional or two-and-half dimensional shapes. This kind of technique of shaping the fabric is a combination of functional and aesthetic., which can be seen everywhere in modern fashion design. The author through the picture analysis, material production, creative thinking and so on,deeply studied the various forms and techniques of 3D reconstruction of the fabric,and combined with her own creative practice to sum up and summarize.This article made a comparison and analysis of the differences between east and western in the development of three-dimensional fabric’s restruction. By analyzing the modern clothing objects and pictures, from the creative way of thinking, technological structure and its various aspects of composite decoration in clothing, this paper is dedicated to explore the use of the fabric which tridimensional reshaped on the clothing decoration in vivid, diversity and complexity.
