Pipeline is the main medium for the transmission of oil, natural gas and other raw materials. Due to the complex operating environment and the increasing running time, the pipeline usually accumulated a lot of impurities. Therefore, regular inspection and cleaning of the pipeline is the key to the healthy operation of the pipeline, which is done by the pipeline detection equipment and the pipe cleaner. In the process of operation and maintenance of oil and gas pipeline, the harsh environment do cause large amounts of sediments resulting in the entire pipeline paralysis of industrial production which brings great threat. Therefore, the development of high reliability of the equipment to predict and determine the pipeline operating position of the detector is one of the important direction of the pipeline operation and maintenance. Extremely low frequency(3 Hz to 30 Hz) with good through characteristics has been widely used in resource exploration, earthquake prediction drilling telemetry and submarine communication field, and has also been used in oil and gas pipeline intelligent robot tracking and positioning.In this paper, a method based on the low frequency electromagnetic technology to accurately locate the detector in the pipeline is realized. Transmitters will be fixed in the pipeline detector. The staff held the receiver after magnetic transmitter signal in the certain range according to different real-time alarm signal to determine the specific location of the detector in the pipeline. The extremely low frequency positioning system mainly comprises main control circuit, signal processing circuit, excitation coil, induction type magnetic sensor coil, and other parts. Low frequency electromagnetic detection system through the main control circuit to the excitation coil loading sinusoidal signal, based on the principle of resonance improves transmitting distance and increasing the utilization rate of power supply. This signal passes through the steel pipe and the lower permeability of soil or water, with frequency selective properties of the magnetic induction sensor receives and reflected in real time so as to identify operating conditions.
