With the consumption of global fossil fuel, clean energy has become a certain way to solve the environmental problem. As one of the clean energy, hydrogen has drawn more attention these years. There are many kinds of methods of hydrogen production, which have different characteristics. However, the cosrt and convenience of hydrogen production are still the hotspot. Many existing methods of hydrogen production have the shortcomings like high energy consumption, severe conditions of hydrogen production (high temperature, high pressure, catalyst needed). In this work, hydrogen production by pulsed high voltage electrodeless discharge in liquid was investigated. It possesses the obviously technical feature. In this work, hydrogen production by pulsed high voltage electrodeless discharge in ethanol solution was investigated, and the effects of different conditions on the flow rate and selectivity of hydrogen with a plate-needle-plate configuration was emphatically studied. The main achievements are as below:1. The discharge characteristics of plate-needle-plate electrode show that high voltage spark discharge can enhance the efficient energy in the electric field and instantaneous release of energy can be also increased. Both of them do good to hydrogen production.2. The spectra emission characteristics of plate-needle-plate electrode show that many H-are generated in the process of spark discharge in ethanol solution and can be increased by the change of conditions. It is also great for hydrogen production.3. As shown in the experiments, discharging with plate-needle-plate electrode can achieve hydrogen production, the flow rate and selectivity of hydrogen can reach 122mL/min,68.7% respectivity.4. With pulsed high voltage electrodeless discharge in liquid for hydrogen production, the lowest energy consumption is about 5.8kW-h/m3.
