With the gradual consumption of global fossil fuel and demand for clean energy, hydrogen has recently drawn more and more attention and methods of hydrogen production sharply increased too.However,many of existing methods have drawback such as high energy consumption,high temperature need,catalyst requirement and so on. In this paper,pulsed high voltage discharge in liquid is used in hydrogen production,it can solve these problem well.Pulsed high voltage discharge in liquid has been already successfully used in sewage treatment,material modification et al.However,its application in the fieid of hydrogen production has not been reported.In this paper,the low-frequency pulsed high voltage discharge in ethanol solution is used for hydrogen production.The main research is about the effect of different conditions on the flow rate and the selectivity of hydrogen by use of pin-plate electrode.Moreover,the emission spectrum monitor and analysis of single pin-plate pulsed high voltage discharge in ethanol solution for hydrogen production is displayed.And some mechanism of hydrogen production is deduced too.The main results are as follows:First,with single pin-plate electrode,the effect of different experimental conditions( the gap between the pin and plate,discharge voltage,discharge frequency,volumn fraction of ethanol solution,conductivity of solution,pH of solution,discharge polarity) on the hydrogen production is displayed,and find the best condition for hydrogen prodution.It is when upper pin-below plate electrode is used,the gap between the pin and plate is about 15mm,the volumn fraction of ethanol solution is 50%,the conductivity is about 30μS/cm regulated by analytically pure hydrochloric acid,and positive discharge voltage is 30kV,frequency is 30Hz,the flow rate of hydrogen can reach 640mL/min and the selectivity of hydrogen has up to 72.6%.Second,this paper proves that with pulsed high voltage discharge in liquid for hydrogen production,the effect of upper pin-below plate electrode is better than upper plate-below pin electrode,and the reason speculated is about the position of hydrogen production.Third,the experiment proves that the double pin electrode for hydrogen production is best.Compared to single pin electrode in the same condition,the flow rate of hydrogen increases 25%,and the selectivity of hydrogen increases 4%.Fourth,at present,with pulsed high voltage discharge in liquid for hydrogen production,the lowest energy consumption is about 1.04kW·h/m3,it is better than most of existing technology for hydrogen production.Last,the emission spectrum monitor and analysis of single pin-plate pulsed high voltage discharge in ethanol solution for hydrogen production is displayed,it proves that the generation of H·is the key of hydrogen production.
