As of now, the primarily raw material of steel industry all over the world is sinter ore. The chemical composition and physical property of sinter ore influence directly on the work condition of blast furnace. So it will influence on the quality and yield of enterprise production. Sintering burden is a complex industrial process, which has many characters, such as multi-variable, coupling and nonlinear. Considering of sinter ore’s features, such as complex components and many kinds, people product sinter by traditional means such as artificial experience and manual operation, the quality of sinter is not good enough and production is low. So the sinter can not satisfy the demand of blast furnace operation nowadays. In view of the above situation, optimization of control system in sinter mixing process of metallurgical industry is designed in this paper, which includes the optimal design of raw materials and a semi-physical simulation research. The main work of this paper is as follows:(1) An optimization control method of sintering burden process is researched, which contains optimization setting layer and flow loop control layer. The optimization setting layer bases on chemical composition of sintering material, and quality index such as iron grade and alkalinity is considered as constraint condition. The price of raw materials is considered as the optimization goal. Mathematical model of sintering burden was established, and the application of genetic algorithm to optimize the calculation was made. Finally, we can get optimization setting value of raw materials’ flow. The flow loop control layer controls the actual value reaching the optimization setting value by using PID algorithm.(2) Optimization of control system in sinter mixing process of metallurgical industry is designed and developed with Siemens SIMATIC S7-300 PLC. Other hardware devices are connected by STEP 7 and WinCC software through Siemens Profibus network.(3) A hardware-in-the-loop simulation platform of optimization of control system in sinter mixing process of metallurgical industry is designed, which consists of optimization setting computer, PLC control system, monitor computer and model computer. Because SIMATIC S7-300 PLC is used as core controller in the PLC control system, which make the environment of simulation platform close to production site, the hardware-in-the-loop simulation platform compares to simulation platform is built in MATLAB, the simulation result has higher accuracy and reliability and has a better practical sense.
