Phase change materials (PCM) take advantage of phase change latent of the characteristics in a certain temperature range to phase change, material molecules are arranged in a rapid transition between order and disorder to change its state. As energy crisis, energy loss and pollution of the environment problem more and more serious, the focus on phase change materials and value also increased.In this paper, a novel solid-solid phase change energy storage material was synthesized via the aqueous phase precipitation polymerization with a amphiphilic monomer that possesses a double bond and a terminal carboxyl MAPEG as side chain with high molecular weight and high quality ratio grafting to the PAN as skeleton. The FT-IR and NMRC13 results confirmed that the MAPEG was successfully grafted to the PAN used as backbone chain; the H-NMR characterized successfully synthesized the big monomer MAPEG; furthermore, the results of XRD supported to the FT-IR and NMR conclusions. DSC thermal analyses showed that the synthesized graft copolymers have typical solid-solid phase transition, the maximal melt enthalpy reached 74.16J/g and cooling enthalpy reached 65.40J/g, occupied the theoretical enthalpies of MAPEG for heating and cooling process as 90% and 93% respectively. Various thermal performance characterization of the thermal properties of the graft copolymer is stable, it is concluded that the synthesized graft copolymers have considerable potential applications for low thermal energy storage and a comfortable temperature range for people’s needs. By orthogonal experiment, selected four factors and three levels, the experimental results to the enthalpy of fusion, using orthogonal experimental software, obtained the influence degree of each factor on the grafting experiment and the optimum reaction system.It is necessary to improve experiment that added with the promotion of third groups molecular which owned crystallization properties after obtaining the high enthalpy. Moreover, improved the molecular polyethylene glycol synthetic macromonomer in quantity, results showed:new graft copolymers improves the crystallization temperature of copolymers, DSC results show that the melting peak and reduce the temperature difference the crystallization of graft copolymer, achieves the ideal effect; orthogonal experimental method, selecting three factors, three levels, the experimental results to the melting enthalpy, the optimum system for A3B1C2, namely acrylonitrile and MAPEG mass ratio is 1:1, the reaction temperature is 90 ℃, the molecular sieve content is 2%, can obtain the comb-shaped graft polymer high enthalpy value.
