With the rapid development of computer and network technology, parametric modeling and finite element analysis of mechanical parts based on the Web become a reality. Using remote modeling and finite element analysis, the users can accomplish parametric modeling and finite element analysis of the mechanical parts easily, and get ideal results of design and analysis.Parametric modeling for scraper conveyor parts by UG software improves the speed of model generation and modification, and has great and practical value for the development of mechanical products. Through the data interface between UG software and ANSYS software, the parametric model can be imported into ANSYS software for finite element analysis directly. And this method can avoid the conversion of model format.Secondary development for UG software by component technology is researched, and the component is installed in the remote server. The users or parts designers can visit parametric modeling system of parts only by the browser of networked computers. Firstly, Users choose the type of parts to design and input the relevant size parameters. Secondly, while data are transferred through the web, part model is generated by the remote COM component. Finally, the part model is showed in the users’page, and then can be downloaded and saved by users. By ANSYS Parametric Design Language (APDL), finite element analysis of scraper conveyor’s parts is finished, and the technology can be realized on the internet. Users can download the original model, and then upload the modified model. By inputting analysis parameters, analysis file can be generated, and then the analysis could be completed by the remote ANSYS software. Users can view the analysis results files easily.The parametric modeling and finite element analysis of scraper conveyor’s parts based on the web, is a product of combining network technology with computer software and hardware technology, and so on. And the method can provide convenience and improve efficiencies of modeling and finite element analysis for users.
