A refined oil pipeline is different from crude oil or natural gas pipelines, the difference is that a refined oil pipeline can convey different kinds of oil. In the process of products pipeline of batch transportation, products are replaced periodically.the two kinds of different oil meet at the interface, the formation of contamination as an unqualified product is made. The mixed oil of a small amount of different types of same kind can be degraded to use. Mixed oil of a small amount of different kinds of oil can only be mixed back based on the properties of oil, causing the oil to be lost in quality. A large amount of contamination need a distiller or is carried back to the refinery which increases extra economic investment.The purpose of contamination quantity optimization is to deliver the largest throughout as well as the least contamination quantity based on safety and stability of operation. based on the contamination mechanics,the influencing factors of contamination are analyzed. By comparing the commonly used theoretical and experiential computing formulas of contamination quantity, it is concluded that the Austin experiential formula is more tally with the actual about calculation of contamination quantity. Considering the influence on the final contamination quantity of the conveying distance of a pipeline, initial contamination, change of pipe diameter, pump flow change of the first station as well as delivery order, the method of equivalent length is used in the Austin experiential formula to calculate the final contamination quantity and to establish an optimization model of contamination quantity, and with the method of exhaustion solve the established optimization model. The mixed oil quantity within a cycle under different first station flow schemes are calculated. It can be concluded that flow scheme of the least contamination quantity of one cycle is known. Taking the Yan-Xi oil pipeline for an example, the flow range of the 350 ~490 m3/h of the first station pump is determined. It can be concluded that the flow scheme of 490 m3/h is the best flow scheme which makes the least contamination quantity of one cycle at the end.As the influence on the final contamination quantity of the variable diameter of,the actual situation of along the pipeline of the oil pipeline, Discussing on the concrete optimization model of contamination quantity. a mixed oil quantity optimization model is put forward which can offer a reference for engineering application. According to the actual operating conditions of the pipeline and the factors that affect the contamination quantity, measures to reduce the amount of contamination quantity are put forward.
