Nowadays, 6061 aluminum alloy is one of common aluminum alloy materials in our currently modern daily life, which widely application in high voltage transmission line fields.Because of the characteristics of china Xinjiang has a wide area, bad weather and transmission line single species, this paper according to the marketing plan of the wire and cable factory, mainly research on wire and cable factory used ingot casting changes in the strength, elongation and electrical conductivity of Al-Mg-Si aluminum alloy. Analysis add elements to optimize the composition of the alloy, in guarantee a certain conductivity can improve the alloy intensity and elongation rate performance. The tensile properties,conductivity, Vickers hardness test, alloy composition testing, metallographic micro observation, scanning electron microscope analysis were designed to study and the results show that:As-cast microstructure of Al-Mg-Si aluminum alloy can be refined by rare earth element La and obtained fine equiaxed grains. The elongation and tensile strength of the alloy are improved to compared with that of the alloy without La. As-cast microstructure grains of Al-Mg-Si aluminum alloy be unreduced by rare earth element Ce. There are a amount of Si elements in the other part of the compound and it has no significant effect on improving the hardness of the alloy. Though adding Ca element to 6061 aluminum alloy can improve it’s electrical conductivity, which can also play a role in the modification of Si in 6061 alloy, but it is at the expense of the mechanical properties of 6061 aluminum alloy. Adding Y element to6061 aluminum alloy can refine as-cast microstructure and improve the mechanical properties of the alloy, but the effect on the conductivity of the alloy is unincreased.The point of this experiment is add La Cl3 and NaHB6 in the alloy, reactant can improve the properties of alloys; When the Al-Ca intermediate alloy add in the alloy, the Ca element restrain Si.Through the comparison of rare earth elements La and Zr elements can be ensure alloy has a higher conductive properties and also has a good tensile strength and elongation rate. It has an important significance in Xinjiang area for Aluminum Alloy transmission line application.
