Volatile organic compounds caused serious environmental pollution and harmed to human body health. Absorption method is becoming a preferred method for the treatment of waste gas containing DMF produced in the production of synthetic leather industry as its characteristics of suitable for processing large volume and low concentration of organic waste gases, mature technology, simple control, and low cost of investment and recovery.As the main research objects, the DMF in waste gas were absorbed using both water spray method and DMF spray method, the influential factors of the DMF removal efficiency were studied using waste gas simulator and spray-absorption device in the lab. The main influential factors researched in the paper included the water content of spraying, DMF content of spraying, the amount of the spray tower, the reaction time and the installation situation of demister. The experimental results of the two methods were compared.The experimental results of water spray method show that the experimental results of DMF spray method show that the DMF removal efficiency would increased 19% when the demister was installed and the influence of demister on the DMF removal efficiency would increased as the DMF content of spraying increased; the DMF removal efficiency of double spray tower was slightly higher than that of single spray tower; the DMF removal efficiency was similar under different DMF contents of spraying; as the reaction time increased, the DMF removal efficiency would decreased slowly and it would tend to be stable after 90 min. The concentrations of DMF in waste gas after the treatment of DMF spray method could not meet the requirement of the integrated emission standard of air pollutants.The DEF removal efficiency would increased with the spraying water increased; the DMF removal efficiency of double spray tower was higher than that of single spray tower; as the reaction time increased, the DMF removal efficiency would decreased; the DMF removal efficiency would increased 5% when the demister was installed and the influence of demister on the DMF removal efficiency would reduced as the spraying water increased. The concentrations of DMF in waste gas were under 40 ppm with the treatment of water spray method, the results meet the requirement of the integrated emission standard of air pollutants.
