| Over the past decade, e-commerce has developed rapidly. As an effective way to improve the user’s experience and reduce return rate, virtual fitting is gaining more and more attention. In order to improve the realism of virtual clothing, previous methods mainly focus on the simulation and rendering. Garment decoration receives little attention. However, garment decoration plays an important role in enhancing the realism of virtual clothing. This paper aims to improve the realism of clothing by adding garment decorations. The main contributions are as follows:We present a texture-based method to add sewing lines. Sewing line textures can either be obtained by rendering virtual sewing lines or by synthesizing sewing line samples. Virtual sewing lines can be rendered using OpenGL with the dotted line template. For the example-based method, we align sewing line images to get sewing line strips, and then put the triangulated strips onto the baseline. With these methods, we can get visually plausible sewing line textures quickly and easily. To further enhance the realistic effect, we use multi-sampling anti-aliasing and bump mapping methods to render sewing line textures. We present a method to simulate laces and zippers by generating cloth strips and attach them onto the clothes. We first triangulate cloth strips, and then add textures onto the strips to get lace strips or zipper strips. We sew the lace strips onto clothes in order to ensure that the laces can move with the clothes. We use vertex mapping to attach the zipper strip to clothing in order to balance the performance and the realism. We use the Position Based dynamics (PBD) method to perform physical cloth simulation because it is effective and robust. We present a method to simulate the thickness of clothes by adding curved edges. First, we offset the whole cloth mesh. Then, we shrink the cloth mesh border. Finally, we generate curved edges of the fabric. We implement the aforementioned methods in Style 3D. Experimental results show that our methods can add decorations and details to cloth quickly, and improve the realism of virtual clothes. |
