With the economic development, the water demand of China’s industry and agriculture is increasing. Slow water pollution and sudden water pollution incidents gradually increased. The establishment of remote monitoring of water quality monitoring system is imminent. In all kinds of water quality pollution, heavy metal pollution is the most common and most serious consequences, and pollution is difficult to control, so monitoring about the water of heavy metal ions pollution is very important. Existing way of metal ion detection including Atomic absorption spectrometry, Inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectrometry (Mass spectrometry), Ion selective electrode, Spectrophotometry, Atomic fluorescence method and so on. Atomic absorption spectrometry and Inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectrometry have complete measurement parameters and high accuracy. They have high cost of equipment, and the anti-interference ability is poor, so they do not apply to on-line monitoring. The current water quality on-line monitoring method includes main Ion selective electrode, Spectrophotometry and Atomic fluorescence method. As traditional detection methods, Electrode method and spectrophotometry has higher response speed and reliability. But they need direct contact with the solution and have much limitations. The testing parameters are single and a kind of sensor can only detect one kind of ion. Ion fluorescence non-contact measurement can be done, but the poor universality, can only detect chromium a few metal ions. Therefore, we need a wide range of applications, test parameters, strong anti-interference ability, relatively more low-cost detection method.In view of the existing water quality defects of metal ion monitoring means, the article puts forward a kind of non-contact metal ion monitoring method based on chromaticity method. By studying the water color machine identification algorithm, compared to the recognition method with other industries color based on the tristimulus values and color difference formula of the water quality of metal ion detection method. Successively by cobalt standard color experiment, copper ion and iron ion, hexavalent chromium ion and other experiments verify the feasibility of this method and revised calculation method.In view of the metal ion monitoring water quality based on chromaticity method, monitoring scheme is proposed in this paper. In view of the hardware, the design meets the requirements of the embedded plate. In view of the software, the tristimulus values extraction procedures and color difference calculation is wrote.It has been verified by test the final measurement results compared with national standard spectrophotometric method, the precision can meet the national requirements, the embedded system reliable operation the overall system testing parameters, relatively low cost, high degree of automation has practical value.
