In recent years,due to frequent pollution incidents,the status of water quality is getting lower and lower.The seven water maindreams overall are seriously polluted.How to effectively prevent,detect and deal with water pollution is an urgent problem to be solved.Colorimetric method is one of the most commonly used detection methods in water quality because it is convenient,fast and low cost.However,the traditional visual colorimetric method has some problems such as strong subjectivity and large error of detection.The photoelectric integration method can eliminate the subjective error,while the sensitivity is much lower.Moreover,the use of ordinary colorimeter is generally limited to the printing and dyeing,textiles,cosmetics,product quality,etc.,but less involved in the water quality detection.This paper presents a method to detect water quality based on colorimetric method and color difference technique.A modified colormetric system is designed in this paper.A white LED whose spectral is more uniform is applied for the light source in the system,and its power consumption is pretty low so the system is more portable.Besides,a wide linear range optical-frequency TCS3200 color sensor is employed as the system detector.The optical part of the structure is very simple.After color reacting,the color difference method is used to study the water parameter detection of residual chlorine,nitrite,chroma,iron ion and copper ion.And the goodness of fitting is more than 0.99.Compared with the concentration-absorbance curve,the sensitivity is higher and the fluctuation is smaller.Using color difference method and national standard method to detect the actual water sample,the results show that there is no significant difference between the two methods.Above all,this paper has finished the research of a new technology for water quality by the color difference method,which has been certified as a high accuracy,high sensitivity and low volatility method.It is potentially to be used as a common and field portable method for water quality detection for various water body like river,lake,drink water,etc..
