Mold is one of the most important infrastructures for a country. The R&D team capability, the skill level and the production capacity of the mold directly affects the products quality and the economic benefit. Therefore, every mold specialty student must have the related professional skills. However, the limited teaching resources cannot meet the students’ normal needs in real mold classes because of the recruit enlargement of colleges in recent years, such as contacting with teachers, conducting experiments and so on, so the teaching effect is often poor. In order to help the students grasp the professional skills and knowledge, it is necessary to develop a new mold experiment teaching method, and the virtual reality technology can achieve the results.In this thesis,The mold virtual reality experiment system is established on the basis of the VPR software. By this virtual reality software, the students can disassemble the mold and do experiments at anytime and anywhere. That system can solve the teaching resources limited problem and improve teaching efficiency. The main contents of this paper are as follows:(1) Many problems of the hardware facilities in current mold teaching situation are analyzed by making investigation. Experiment system are made monolithic plan in detail combining with the mould specialty in actual education teaching situation. At last,the development plan is determined and solution as well as blueprint is given, which lay a theoretical foundation for the development of the virtual experiment system.(2) The structural principles of the injection molding,the punch-pressing mold and the extrusion mold are studied. These moulds are made more close to reality through 3D modeling, optimization, material assignment, rendering, baking and so on. In addition, summarizing the problems in the designing and later optimization process are summarized to facilitate subsequent development.(3) Mold virtual assembly experiments are realized correctly for further research by using the virtual reality software VPR for the problem of complex mould dismounting and variability in sequence. There are two parts in the experiment system including animation demo part and self-dissembling part. Students who get into trouble can choose the prompt to finish the dismounting experiment in the dismounting process. Teaching aims are obtained as to the reality.(4) Virtual reality function in the injection molding process is researched. Students can operate the virtual injection molding machine on the operation panel of the virtual machine. At the same time, relevant injection actions are achieved. The change of products in different state are made out by inputting the parameter plastic name, the injection pressure and the plastic temperature on the panel.
