Electrospinning is a technology which the polymer solution or melt forming a jet in voltage field, then the micro or nano fiber formed after the solvents evaporated. When the deminsion of a material down to micro and nano, there will be some unique properties with it, such as large specific surface area, large aspect ratio, special electro-optical properties, etc. In the electrospinning, conventional materials are thermoplastics, or using two kinds of plastics to blend in order to meet certain performance requirements.In some aspects, the rubber has its unique properties, such as, high elasticity, strong stability. However, due to the low glass transition temperature of the rubber, the entanglement ability of the molecular chains is very strong at room temperature, resulting in the fiber structure easily to collapse. So the rubber is not often used in electrospinning research. Therefore, this paper studied the spinnability of chlorobutyl rubber under different electrical spinning systems. Then, by the means of scanning electron microscopy (SEM), infrared spectroscopy(IR), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), the various properties had been studied. The mechanical properties of the fiber had been test by universal tensile testing machine.The results showed that in the single spinneret system, due to the solution properties,the spinnability of rubber may be poor without the addition of N, N-dimethylformamide (DMF). It was unable to form a continuous fiber. When the parameters optimized to the solution concentration of 6%, the voltage of 20KV, the received distance of 10cm, a preferable morphology of fiber could be obtained.In the positive and negative high voltage dual spinneret system, a rolling device used for collecting fibers. Considering the effect of voltage, ratio, concentration, received distance to the electrospinning of the epoxy resin (EP) and chlorobutyl rubber (CIIR), the best spinning process parameter was:the voltage of 25KV to 30KV,the ratio of EP/CIIR from 3:7 to 5:5, the solution concentration of 5%-6%wt, the received distance between 10cm-12cm.The fiber morphology would be changed from smooth to rough by the addition of epoxy resin. That the fiber membrane’s hydro phobic ability could be affected. The fiber membrane’s water contact angle was 106.5° without the addition of epoxy resin. With the increased proportion of epoxy resin, the spinning composite membrane’s water contact angle ranged from 133.3°to 120.3°.The fiber membrane could be vulcanized by adding phenolic resin. The crosslinked fiber membrane’s mechanical properties would be the best at the addition of phenolic resin by 17%wt, the vulcanized temperature of 180℃.
