The coal occupies a large proportion of energy consumption in China, and it is an important resource to ensure the economic to grow steady. Coal preparation is the most direct and effective technology to make good use of the limited resources. Green production and green processing are the inevitable requirement for sustainable development. Along with the progress of science and technology, coal mining mechanization degree is strengthening, as a result, which produces a large number of high ash and refractory slime. At the same time, the original separation process has been unable to meet the users’ various demands for the products, "2+2" separation technology arises at the historic moment in this condition.In this paper, through analyzing the nature of the raw coal and the slime in Huaibei Coal Preparation Plant, and combining with the actual production of the factory, it found that it was poor adaptability of coal quality in the original process of coal slurry; vacuum filter processing ability was badly low, which led to increasing energy consumption; the flotation machines were old and the slime were repeated in the system and so on. These led to the clean coal ash staying in a high position without going down, high moisture content, production efficiency decreased. To solve these problems, this plant took the separation process of "2+ 2", for different size of materials with grading flotation, using different equipments to carry on the effective recovery and it turns out to improve the coal quality, washing coal with clean water is realized.By analyzing the operation of each link of equipments and effects of coarse slime recovery process technology, comparing to the original process and the new technology in aspect of the production effect, it is easy to find the new separation process better than the old especially declining drop ash obvious, and it reduces the ash content of cleaned coal effectively, the water of the product is fit, what is more, it reduces the gravity back affecting the ash; with mathematical method to simulate and analyze the heavy medium system for predicting the products; at last, it analyzes and evaluates the economic and technical indicators and comprehensive economic benefits of the new separation process."2+2" separation process takes advantage of advanced and reliable equipments to make the high ash coal slime separate effectively and reduce the amount of the coal slime in the circulating system, reduces the products of the ash and moisture and increases the yield of the clean coal.Importantly, it wins the best economic benefit and realizes green washing. The selection process is worth to applying to various coal preparation plants.
