At present, the way of dynamic braking applied to winch of oil rigs is using resistance or brake to consume the energy generated by the regenerative braking system.This will not only result in the waste of energy, but also greatly increase the maintenance cost and shorten the life of various components of transmission mechanism. So it is necessary to use some suitable energy storage elements and methods to recycle and reuse the potential energy such as braking energy and gravity potential energy. Then it can improve energy efficiency and has become a research hot spot now.In this paper, the energy recovery system of oil drilling rig winch with super capacitor energy storage is studied. According to the mathematical model of asynchronous motor, analyzes the winch of regenerative braking energy generation mechanism,regenerative braking of winch forms and DC bus pump voltage rise;the principle of bidirectional DC-DC converter, the charge and discharge characteristics of the super capacitor are introduced. Petroleum drilling rig winch lifting system of job characteristics according to the calculated in the working process of the theory to recycle the energy, then by the super capacitance storage can principle and monomer super capacitor base capacity calculation formula to determine the regenerative braking energy recovery system storage unit for super capacitor specification models and the performance parameters, and super capacitor module connection methods and the required number of super capacitor.Based on the theory of super capacitor, the regenerative braking energy recovery system of oil drilling rig winch is simulated and the simulation results are analyzed. It is concluded that energy recovery in the regenerative braking energy recovery system with super capacitor energy storage element of oil drilling rig winch is feasible.Then using the MATLAB / SIMULINK simulation software based on the basis of familiar with the SIMULINK simulation environment, according to the winch motorcontrol strategy and choice of the motor parameters, the selection of each module in the energy recovery system, and thus the completion of drilling rig drawworks brake energy recovery system model establishment of regeneration. The simulation model consists of a motor and a control module, rectifier inverter module, super capacitor and resistor module.According to the analysis of super capacitor current and voltage curves and other simulation waveforms, the energy and the energy recovery efficiency of super capacitor when the winch is under light load, heavy load and maximum load. Results show that when the load of the drilling rig winch is increased, the energy recycled and the efficiency is higher.
