Under the background of advanced technology developing led by emerging technology, informationalized management requirement of manufacturing resource is increasing. It is an inevitable trend that cutting database becomes a support of NC machining technique in CIMS. In the development process of cutting database, there are problems to be resolved to promote the practical application. That is, whether the obtaining method of data source is reasonable and effective, whether the system structure is flexible and practical. Therefore, the research for improving data source and system structure is conducted in this thesis. Integrated cutting database system based on manufacturing process feature is studied and developed. Underlying data is established based on the combination of theoretical analysis, simulation research and math processing. Cutting parameters are recommended for process feature. Data is more reliable. Parameter setting is conducted during NC programming. The amount of input information can be greatly decreased so as to increase the programming efficiency and to reduce error ratio of the programmer.Firstly, a hierarchical feature model is proposed to express machining process information related to the development of cutting database system process. The model information is categorized as part level, design feature level, machining feature level and process feature level. Conceptual design of database is conducted and feature hierarchies of eight kinds of typical parts of aero engines are established.Secondly, underlying data is constructed for cutting database based on the feature hierarchies. The relationship of between temperature and feature parameters is established by parameterized description of process features and with finite element simulation of machining process. Calculation formula of cutting speed is derived under the condition of the optimized cutting temperature. Calculation formula is regarded as the underlying data.Afterwards, the integration schema of cutting database system and UG software, which is to call MFC (Microsoft Foundation Classes) dynamic link library of cutting database in UG menu, is settled. Integrated development environment is built using joint-development techniques of MFC and UG/Open. Interface integration program, functional interaction program and data transfer program of cutting database and UG are written to realize three aspects of integration strategies of expression integration, functional integration and data integration.Finally, cutting database system is developed according to software developing procedure. The process and results of requirement analysis, preliminary design and detailed design are introduced. Functional realization in three aspects of feature hierarchies inquiry, cutting conditions inquiry and optimization, integrated application with UG is proved by application examples of the developed database.
