The controllable synthesis of the complex is received wide attention of the scientific experts in the study of coordination chemistry, and a lot of experimental and theoretical study has been done. This kind of complexes has found a good application in many fields such as the magnetism, the fluorescence, the optical sensor, the catalysis and the electrochemistry. This is not only because of the variable structures, but also due to the unique qualities of the complexes. Meanwhile as the synthesis mechanism of the complex is irregular, which is different from the organic synthesis, what’s more the uncontrollable self-assembly reaction is another problem. These problems make the oriented synthesis of the complex with certain architecture be a puzzle. In this thesis, we select several aromatic polycarboxylic acid and bis-benzimidazole compounds as organic ligands to obtain six complexes by the self-assembly reaction with the metal salt by the hydrothermal synthesis method, and the structures of complexes were characterized by the X-ray single crystal diffraction.1. Five bis-benzimidazole compounds and two aromatic polycarboxylic acid compounds were synthesized:(1) 1,3-bis(2-benzimidazolyl)-2-oxa-propane (bbop), (2) 1,3-bis(benzoimidazol-2-yl)propane (bbp), (3) 5-oxyacetate isophthalic acid (H3OABDC), and (4) 5,5’-(ethane-l,2-diyl)-bis(oxy) diisophthalic acid (H4EBDA).2. Three novel metal-organic complexes (or Metal-organic Frameworks MOFs) were constructed with the transitional metal salts and 5-hydroxyisophthalic acid (HO-H2BDC) and bisbenzimidazole ligands (bbop) by use of hydrothermal synthesis method:[Zn(HO-H2BDC)(bbop)]n (M1), [Cu2(HO-BDC)(bbop)2-2H20]n (M2), and [Zn2(HO-BDC)(bbop)2-2H2O]n (M3). The structures of three MOFs were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction:M1 is orthorhombic, M2 and M3 is monoclinic. The M1 and M2 are four-coordinated with tetrahedral structures, while the M3 is five-coordinated structure with a rectangular pyramid.3. Three novel MOFs were constructed with the transitional metal salts and polycarboxylic acid ligands (H3OABDC or H4EBDA) and bisbenzimidazole ligands (bbp or bbop) by using hydrothermal synthesis method,{[Co4(OABDC)2 (H2O)4]·3.5H2O}n (M4), [Zn(H2OABDC)(bbop)]n (M5), and [Zn2(H2EBDA)(bbp)2]n. The structures of three MOFs were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction: M4 is monoclinic, M5 and M6 is triclinic. M4 is six-coordinated with a tetrahedral geometry, while M5 and M6 are four-coordinated with a tetrahedral structure.
