Hub, as the most important bearing component of car, its performance will directly affect the safety, life, appearance and comfort etc. Lightweight is a major trend in the automotive industry, high performance lightweight hub will eventually become the main force in the automobile hub. Faced with the shortcomings of poor toughness, volatility and so on, here two aspects were taken into account:firstly, preparation of high performance lightweight alloy; secondly, adopt spinning processing technology.Among more than one hundred elements, rare earth scandium is the best known strengthening aluminum alloy element. Based on 6061 aluminum alloy, different cast alloys were made by adding different content of Sc and Zr to it. In order to select the optimum adding amount of scandium and zirconium, cast microstructure and mechanical properties of different alloy was studied. The results showed that with the addition of 0.2%Sc and 0.1%Zr, the alloy survived good comprehensive performance. Choose the alloy with best performance and it will be used as candidate material of automobile hub.Forge blanks and then make them into hubs through spinning process. The spinning forming of wheel is a very complicated deformation process. In order to obtain the spinning parameters of the selected alloy, the mechanical model in line with the actual situation was established based on well understanding of the spinning process. Based on ABAQUS platform, finite element model of the process is established, import material parameters, set process parameters, operation and analysis results, the distribution state and trend of stress and strain during the forming process of wheel were obtained. Based on the equivalent stress, equivalent strain and circumferential stress, by using the method of orthogonal test analysis, the optimal spinning process parameters combination was obtained. Import the optimization of process parameters calculate, import the results to the next pass in the form of the initial state, set the parameters of the second pass spinning and continue to calculate, eventually got the whole spinning forming process of Al-Sc alloy hubs, which laid the foundations for the production of high performance lightweight hubs.
