The cylinder’s profile feature is an evaluation basis of global sizes, and its measurement path and characteristic parameters are related to the measurement efficiency and reality of global sizes’ profile feature. In this thesis, according to the definitions of global sizes in ISO 14405-1:2010 and the relative contents of "Study on the radial gas films thickness design and control technique of ultra-precision aerostatic bearing spindle based on global sizes", which is a project of National Natural Science Foundation of China, a systematic research on the characteristic parameters’ optimization of the profile feature measurement of cylinder’s global sizes has been carried out. In this thesis, the extraction strategies of the profile feature in the measurement of cylindricity error are used for reference, and three measurement paths, such as roundness profile, generatrix and bird-cage, of cylinder’s global sizes profile feature are adopted, the characteristic parameters of which are defined. The radial rotary error model of spindle, the straightness error model of slider, and the parallelism error between the rotary axis of spindle and slider are built, and the relative parameters in the models above are set on the basis of nominal size and surface roughness of cylinder as well as Nyquist sampling theorem. Based on the models above and the evaluation models of cylinder’s global sizes, the simulation software of profile feature of cylinder global sizes, which is suitable for three measurement paths above, and the evaluation software of cylinder’s global sizes, are programed by using MATLAB and C languages. Three measurement paths are used for the profile feature simulation measurement of cylinder’s global sizes, and the global sizes are evaluated for the simulated profile data. Through the analysis of the evaluation results and research of the relationship between the characteristic parameters of measurement paths and global sizes, the determination method of the characteristic parameters of the profile measurement paths of cylinder’s global sizes is proposed. The cylinder’s global sizes’ profiles are gained by using a combined simulation method based on the measured profile data on Taylor585L, and the proposed determination method of the characteristic parameters of the profile feature measurement paths is checked. In this thesis, some issues on the eccentricity and tilt of cylinder axis on the influence of the evaluation results of cylinder’s global sizes are also studied.
