Titanium alloys are widely used in the fields of aviation, medical, chemical and other fields with its high strength, low density and corrosion resistance. However, titanium alloy is difficult-to-machine material, the serious tool wear and low durability in the process of cutting limiting the efficiency of the cutting process. The study of bionic tribology has found that the surface with a certain texture has a better wear resistance and reasonable micro-texture profile and size parameters play a good role in reducing friction. In this paper, micro-textures have been processed on the surface of the pin sample, and the effect of micro-texture on the friction properties of YG8/TC4 has been studied by friction and wear test. The simulation model of cutting titanium alloy has been established by the finite element software. The cutting force changing rule of micro-textured cutting tool in cutting titanium alloy have been studied. The main research work from the following aspects:Firstly, the laser marking machine has been used to process the micro-texture on the surface of the pin sample, and friction and wear tests have been carried out on the friction pairs of the titanium alloy and the pin sample with micro-texture and no micro-texture, comes to the conclusion that the micro-texture can effectively reduce the friction coefficient. Then the friction and wear tests have been carried out on pin samples with different micro-texture and the effect of different micro-texture parameters on the friction effect was studied.Secondly a two dimensional simulation model of titanium alloy cutting process has been built using the finite element software ABAQUS and the correctness of the model is verified by the titanium alloy cutting experiment. The process of cutting titanium alloy by micro-textured cutting tool has been simulated and the cutting titanium alloy has been compared with no micro-texture cutting tool. The stress distribution and cutting force changing rule of micro-textured cutting tool in cutting titanium alloy have been studied and the influence of the equivalent strain. Finally, the effect of micro-texture size parameters on the cutting force is studied. The range of variables has been determined through single factor experiment, the central composite experiment has been carried out and the prediction model of the main cutting force on micro-texture size parameters is obtained. The response surface method has been used to analyze the influence of micro-texture parameters on the main cutting force.
