Magnetorheological fluid(MRF) is a kind of new smart material, its in the condition of zero magnetic field presents a Newtonian fluid properties of low viscosity. While under the influence of strong magnetic field, it exhibits high viscosity and low mobility of Bingham body characteristics.The rheological property of MRF can has been widely used in many scientific research fields. Magnetorheological polishing technology is a kind of effective and high precision optical component surface processing technology, it can obtain super smooth surface of optical element. In this paper, the surface contact type magnetorheological polishing machine of Xi’an Technological University is as the experimental platform, based on virtual instrument technology, researchs and designs a complete set of magnetorheological fluid shear force measurement and control systems. To measure the magnitude of the shear force on the surface of the workpiece in the magnetorheological polishing process. By changing the parameters of the magnetic field strength, clearance, and the speed of the workpiece, studies the tendency of the shear force.Though the magnetic rheological polishing technology development status, and magnetorheological fluid rheological property of domestic and foreign research status, leads to the directly effect of shear force on magnetorheological polishing. Then it is concluded that the significance of the research topic.Based on the research of the magnetorheological polishing machine mechanical structure, determined to parallel disc type testing methods for testing principle, to clear in the parallel disc type test method, the mathematical relationship between torque and shearing force.In this paper, the magnetorheological polishing machine is the experimental platform, based on virtual instrument technology, researchs and designs a complete set of magnetorheological fluid shear force measurement and control systems scheme. The hardware design platform and the software design platform of the measurement and control systems are studied and described respectively.At the end of this paper, the measurement and control systems are divided into signal acquisition system and output signal control system, modular experiment was carried out respectively. Modular debugging experiment improves the efficiency of the system debugging. After the completion of the modular debugging work, the whole on-line experiment is carried out. Verify the feasibility and reliability of the measurement and control systems.
