Sec-butyl acetate,also known as 1-Methylpropyl acetate or 2-Butyl acetate,colorless liquid at room temperature,with fruit fragrance,volatile,more flammable.the properties of butyl acetate is similar with the isopropyl acetate.especically it has weaker toxic than toluene,xylene and other traditional solvents,meanwhile,it also can be used as a substitute solvent instead of traditional toxic and harmful solvents.on the other hand,sec-butyl acetate has been used widely for paint with solvent,diluent, vegetable oil extraction solvent, but also for plastics and perfumery, gasoline octane value of harmonic agent, and pharmaceutical reagents, solvents.This paper studied the purification of the crude butene-acetic acid produced by addition reaction. The first step used the azeotropic distillation process to get the crude product and then performed the advanced distillation process.,The feed rate, reflux ratio, number of trays, feed stage were considered as the factors for the quality of the sec-butyl acetate froduct. The sensitivity analysis was used to determine the parameters for the distillation process, and the results shows that the purity of the sec-butyl acetate purity can reach 99.47%and its yield could reach 89.8%.This work also improved the traditional separation process of the sec-butyl acetate by stripping technology. The improved purification process save the investment cost by the using a stripping technology instead the distillation column with the same purity of the product. Besides, the optimized parameters were determined for the improved stripping technology by using sensitivity analysis and thermodynamic analysis As a result, the purity of the sec-butyl acetate can reach 99.44% and its yield can reach to 87.6% by the optimized process. The results demonstrated the stripping technology used for the purification of the sec-butyl acetate not only decreased the investment cost but also increased the ppurity of the sec-butyl acetate.
