Nowadays, the number of plate straightening machine is very small in the domestic, and the bearing strength of the straightening machine is lower. So when the thickness of cold straightening plate is more than 50 mm, to achieve the flatness requirement, plate needs to be repeatedly straightened, which greatly reduces the work efficiency of the straightening machine. In addition, domestic research on theory of heavy plate straightening is not very mature. In practical production, the intermesh schedule is usually formulated by experience, and the straightening process parameters of certain specification plate meeting the requirements is obtained by repeated adjusting. So the effective working time of the straightening machine is reduced, and the work efficiency is reduced.In this paper, according to the specification range of the widely used plates in actual production, the basic structure form and main dimension parameters of the roll system and the straightening ability of the straightening machine are determined. Combined with the straightening theory, the power parameters calculation formula of the straightening machine is deduced. According to the straightening ability of the straightening machine, the maximum widths of each specification of plate can be straightened are determined. Regarding straightening unit as the research object, the calculation formula of intermesh schedule suitable to the 2800 seven roller plate straightening machine is deduced, and the intermesh schedule of each specification of plate is calculated.In the finite element software ABAQUS, the finite element model of the straightening process is established, and the calculated intermesh schedule of each specification of plate is simulated. By analyzing the shape along length direction of the plate after straightening, the modified coefficient is introduced. By the finite element method, the influences of thickness and the yield strength of the plate on the value of the modified coefficients are studied, and the value curves of modified coefficients are determined, and the result is verified. Through modification,the straightening accuracy of the calculation formula for intermesh schedule is improved, so the formula can provide reference for the practical production more effectively.Finally, based on the core dimensions, combined with the basic function and the ability of straightening, the specific structure of the roll system of the straightening machine is designed. In the SolidWorks, the three-dimensional structure of the roll system is constructed, and the strength of the key parts of the roller system is checked and optimized by using the finite element software ABAQUS. Thus, in the case of meeting the strength requirements of the straightening machine, the rigidity is higher, the structure is more compact, and the overall cost is lower.
