This paper analyzed the current art of state of reservoir data. The development of oil reservoir is a complex process that utilizes a combination of multiple disciplines. The presence of diversion and dispersity of the data inevitably results in the inconvenience in the inquiry and usage of the database, which therefore increases the difficulty in predicting production performance of a reservoir. With the fast development of technologies in computer, database and network, it is possible to deal with varying kinds of data in oilfiled development efficiently and scientifically. To address these problems, this paper first constructed the structure framing of database and proposed a scheme for storing big data. The scheme can be capable of compressing massive data information and make them be stored fast as well as effectively, which helps decrease the storage space. Secondly, this paper assembled varying reservoir data and results of numerical simulations in one database and established connection machnisms among the data such that the research achievements in multiple disciplines can be combined to provide support for dynamic development of petroleum reservoirs. Thirdly, this paper realized the network access to the database via the ActiveX. The guests can inquire, browse, can download relevant data through the Internet. Fourthly, this paper analyzed different three-dimension space models and proposed a multiple-layer model consisting of the 3D grid and formation model. The inquiry and analysis of the three-dimensional visualization was realized based on Open Inventor. Lastly, the optimization of well placement in a reservoir was conducted with the application of database with space cluster analysis.
