Pressure swing adsorber is one of typical pressures which are very important and usually seen in petroleum refining, chemistry, metallurgical and other industries, but it is prone to fatigue failure because of its harsh operating conditions and periodical high and low pressure. In this paper, PSA test for refinery enterprise hydrogen adsorption unit is studied.The adsorbers were put into use in 1993 and have been used for 20 years and now in the extended service state. A comprehensive inspection, safety assessment and life prediction are particularly important for their safety and reliable operation.This article are based on a large number of domestic and foreign literatures. Field test and numerical simulation method are used for the safty assessment and life prediction of these pressure swing adsorbers. Firstly, a comprehensive test of the pressure swing adsorption adsorbers by various nondestructive testing methods are conducted. The results show that there are different degrees of thinning phenomenon of overall wall thickness and Ultrasonic flaw was found that there were two defects in the weld ring adsorber head and cylinder connection. Through simplifying overweight defect security evaluation, the result shows the two overweight defects in safe range. Then the structural stress of global and local structure of the adsorber were analyzed through the finite element analysis software ANSYS and the adsorber under various loading, stress distribution and deformation of the whole and local situation were got. Thirdly, through the line processing method, we got the adsorber dangerous cross-section selection evaluation route. On the basis of the analysis, the safety assessment and remaining life prediction were completed. The results show that the overall security adsorber in good condition and all parts can meet the strength requirements and meet the requirements of safe operation. After calculation alternating stress amplitude, the remaining life of these adsorbers is more than 5 years.In addition, The study provides some basic references to develop inspection technology solutions for such adsorbers in the future in scientific research aspect.
