The most commonly used polymer materials are insulation. The static electricity is easily to generate and accumulate in use, which is inconvenience to production and people’s life. So the antistatic modification of polymer materials is very important and necessary. Quaternary ammonium salt is a kind of surface active agent, commonly used as adding antistatic agent. But durability and water resistance of un-reactive quaternary ammonium salt is poor due to the high mobility. The antistatic agent solved in solvent would give environmentally pollution and resource waster during process, while the antistatic agent solved in water also causes the energy consumption during the dryness, and the water resistance of obtained film is not good. UV curing technology is an environmentally friendly, resource-saving material processing. Using UV-curable antistatic coatings for antistatic modification of polymer materials surface is a convenient and effective method. It is very important to study the relationship between the structure of UV curable conductive components and performance of antistatic to develop environment friendly antistatic coating.Based on the analysis of effect of polymer structure on the properties and the antistatic principle of quaternary ammonium salt, four kinds of UV curable quaternary ammonium salt were designed to explore the effect of quaternary ammonium salt structure on the antistatic property and water resistance of cured film. The first one is: acrylic ester with alkyl chloride prepared by the reaction of acrylic acid with 2-(chloromethyl)oxirane reacted with N,N-dimethyl ethanolamine to produce mono acrylic quaternary ammonium salt. The second one is: the amine modified acrylic esters were prepared by Michael addition of trimethylolpropane triacrylate with diethanolamine and N,N-dimethyl ethylolamine., which reacted with hydrochloric acid to give acrylic esters with quaternary ammonium salt group at side chain. The third one is : the inner quaternary ammonium salt diol was prepared by the reaction of maleic anhydride with triethanolamine which reacted with IPDI, PEG 400 and 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate further forming acrylic ester capped polyurethane with short quaternary ammonium salts side chain. The fourth is: the mono isocyanate forming from reaction of IPDI with 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate, reacted with triethanolamine producing tri acrylic ester capped carbamate using the amine as branched point, which reacted with tetrafluoboric acid and hydrochloric acid to give triacrylic with quaternary ammonium salts at center. The structure of quaternary ammonium salts monomers and oligomer resins were characterized by 1H-NMR and FT-IR. The UV curable antistatic glue were prepared by mixture the quaternary ammonium salts monomers and/or oligomer resins with other UV curable monomers and resins. The composites containing above quaternary ammonium salts were cured quickly to give a film with excellent antistatic property and endurable to water. The effects of the composition and humidity on the antistatic property of film were investigated.
