Artificial detection with projector is the primary means in the field of spinning traveler detection for major domestic traveler manufacturers,this traditional detection means not only without data storage function,but also is inefficient. In recent years,the machine vision inspection technology is applied to the spinning traveler detection by some researchers,but only part geometry size detection has been finished, and still with low automation level.This article focuses on the research and design of automated testing solutions and equipment, aimed at increasing the level of automation and detection efficiency;Provide a operable engineering solutions for the traveler’s automatically detection. Specific work and results are as follows:Based on the survey of major domestic spinning traveler manufacturers and combined with industry testing standards of spinning traveler,determined the main geometry parameters for automatic detection,formulated the overall scheme for automatic traveler detection system with analysis on process characteristics of machine vision technology.Designed the detachable straighten module based on the modular design concept.Implemented the target that one vibration plate to complete the isolation and straighten for different types of travelers.Researched the program on automatic feeding and sorting,finished the detailed design of related executive body,established the three-dimensional model of mechanical systems on UG and processed the main components.Proposed a non-contact flip scheme of travelers based on magnetic force, depend on the magnetic Simulation on Ansoft Maxwell.The scheme have been verified with corresponding device,and solved the problem of 90-degree flip.Compared with the contact flip scheme, such as machine hand,contact flip scheme reduced the complexity of the design effectively,shorten the development cycle and development costs reduced greatly.Built a machine vision inspection system on the basis of studies on visual inspection,compiled the detection algorithm of travelers flatness and symmetry witch compliance with industry standards.The works laid the theoretical foundation for the travelers geometry testing.Designed the Joint Control System by using communication scheme for host computer and PLC based on OPC technology.with the detection process,developed a control system applications on Lab VIEW,designed a visual interactive interface, operators use the mouse and keyboard to complete the entire testing process.Built experiment platform by assembly of main components and set up hardware circuit for control system,and tested the main function,the main implementing agencies can complete the detection in accordance with the design requirements.From the test results, comprehensive testing accuracy is 0.01 mm,detection efficiency is 10 s / piece that increased by 200% compared with the current detection efficiency of the factory,In addition,with the test data storage function, achieved the traceable of detection data.
