In this paper, based on the 5-UPS/PRPU machine tool, the original PMAC control system has been replaced as UMAC control system. And to improve the corresponding control theory, a lot of efforts has been done for it from different aspects.Firstly, for 5-UPS/PRPU machine, the electrical system and control cabinet of 5-UPS/PRPU machine tool are re-designed and to make sure it is more reliable to debug and run, the limited switches are added and the safety system of the machine tool is re-designed. Through the motor no-load and load of debugging, drive of the motor and the controller parameters were adjusted, so that it can meet the operational requirements. In the debugging process, the corresponding fault processing records are established the corresponding fault processing records.Secondly, based on UMAC controller, the offline system of this machine is designed by using Solidworks software and VB software. In this way, not only can it increase the safety of the machine tool, but also can monitor the process of the operation. At the same time, the positive solution of this machine is also applied reasonably in the test.Thirdly, the homing process of the machine has been tested. Combined with the theory of the reverse solution of the dynamic platform and UPS bifurcation, using both MATLAB software and Solidworks software to verify the result, some difficulties about homing process of the machine have been solved successfully.Finally, combined with other two software like Mastercam and Solidworks, the NC program of automatic machining of the machine tool is designed. Because of this, the working efficiency is improved and the NC code is convenient to be used. In this way, the function of the machine can be fully developed.
