Metal glass, also called amorphous alloy, has a broad application prospect in the military, space and other fields due to its excellent physical, mechanical and chemical properties.Its long-range disorder, medium-range order atomic configuration brings its excellent mechanical properties as well as makings metallic glass machine hardly. The volatility of cutting force is large and the wear of cutter is great during the metal glass machining, understanding the machining mechanism is premise of science which to optimize the manufacture process and improve the machinability of difficult-to-machine material. According to the sensitive to temperature and stress of Metal glass, from the perspective of the constitutive model of Metal glass,investigation on the cutting force and temperature field in orthogonal cutting of vit1 metallic glass with finite element technology are following:First, there is no applicable model of Metal glass which can describe the deformation process of metallic glass in general finite element simulation platform now, this papere found a new constitutive model of Metal glass which can describe the tension compression asymmetry and the adiabatic temperature change thorough analysis various yield criterion, introduce D-P yield criterion and combine the rule of damage evolution with the heat transfer parameters of metallic glass. The material constitutive model is embedded into the general finite element platform, the average error between the main cutting force of simulation and the measured cutting force of cutting experiment is 9.6%, this verify the correctness of the constitutive model of Metal glass, which lay a good foundation for finite element simulation of the cutting mechanism of metallic glass;Second, according to the basis of the simulation model, this paper analyzes effect the cutting parameter and the geometric parameters of cutter on the cutting force and the temperature field during metal glass cutting process. Explaining special rule of normal force from the edge radius of cutting tool which causing scale effect;Finally, Since the sensitivity of temperature about metallic glass, this paper raises a new method that applying laser to heat the surface to reduce the hardness of metal glass to raise its machinability. Founding a laser heating model of Metallic glass, and get its temperature field, then let the temperature field as initial temperature field of orthogonal cutting of vit1 metallic glass which is the same as the laser-assisted cutting simulation. The results showed that the main cutting force of laser-assisted cutting reduces greatly and steadily that compared with traditional cutting, which also confirm that it is feasibility that applying laser-assisted cutting method to metallic glass owing to the sensitivity of it.
