Hard-to-machine materials such as titanium alloys and GH4169 alloy have excellent characteristics,include high strength,high hardness and high heat resistance.In recent years,they are widely used in aerospace industry,vehicle engineering,biomedical fields etc.However,these high temperature alloys in the traditional mechanical processing process will be a serious tool wear and bad surface quality.As a kind of advanced processing technology,laser assisted cutting technology is an effective method for the processing of high temperature alloy materials.In this paper,according to the principle of laser assisted cutting and the existing experimental conditions,the test materials,cutting tools and a set of benchmark parameters are determined.A laser assisted micro machining system was built,the experiment of laser assisted micro cutting was carried out for two kinds of materials,the influence of different processing parameters on the cutting force of TC4 titanium alloy was studied,the tool wear condition of two kinds of materials with different laser parameters is analyzed.The experimental results show that the laser assisted micro cutting method can effectively reduce the cutting force,the tipping and the adhesive wear of the cutting tool can be reduced compared with the conventional machining method.The influences of surface topography,surface roughness,surface hardness and residual stress on the surface of the two kinds of materials under different machining parameters were studied.
