With the continued growth of national income, jewelry has become a common household consumer goods. It has become a new growth point of national economy and brings opportunities for jewelry processing industry, as well as to put forward higher request to the industry. The diamond faceting machine is a small processing equipment that is able to complete the diamond faceting.At present, the most domestic jewelry processing industries still rely on traditional manual diamond faceting machine.It leads to problems of the low efficiency,poor consistency,low precision and serious homogeneity problems, high labor costs in the process of product.Foreign countries have developed high-efficiency, high automation, good processing properties diamond faceting machine.But the diamond faceting machine of the olive beads still has problems of low efficiency.But the diamond faceting machine is expensive, because of the implementation of foreign technology blockade. During production process, the domestic automatic diamond faceting machine is inefficient and the precision and stability are not ideal. With the rapid development of China’s jewelry industry, traditional manual diamond faceting equipment make the benefit of the jewelry processing industryies faced unprecedented challenge. Research on new and efficient automatic diamond faceting machine has become the industry hotspot.To design and manufacture the horizontal CNC double-tool diamond faceting machine of high efficiency, high precision and better consistency of products,the paper analyzed the structural characteristics of the domestic and foreign automatic diamond faceting machine and researched the new diamond faceting for olive beads. For the problem that the current domestic and foreign existing the double-tool automatic diamond faceting machine can not achieve efficient processing for olive beads, the paper put forword two efficient the diamond facetings for olive beads and designed the corresponding mechanical structure of diamond faceting machine.By contrast,the paper choosed the optimal design.The geometric error has a large effect on the precision of the diamond faceting machine.The paper set up the geometric error model of the double-tool automatic diamond faceting machine by multi-body system theory.The paper choosed the allowed space comprehensive geometric error as the the optimization objective function,and used the Taguchi robust design methods to design the machine, to achieve the good robustness and small error for the double-tool automatic diamond faceting machine. Secondly, the paper completed the mechanical structure of the double-tool automatic diamond faceting machine and built the modle of the whole machine by threedimensional modeling software Solidworks, including feed module and jig module, and set up the chip recovery.Then, the paper completed the selection and the life calculaton of the servo motor, harmonic reducer, ball screw, and other major components, confirming the X/Y-axis and the A/B/C-axis positioning accuracy. On this basis, the paper established the finite element model of double-tool diamond faceting machine. This paper analyzed the model of the natural vibration and static characteristics. According to the analysis, the paper determined a reasonable speed spindle motor and verified whether the module had excellent static characteristics. Finally, the paper completed the commissioning of each motion axis parameters of the double-tool diamond faceting machine. The paper confirmed the accuracy specifications of the double-tool diamond faceting machine. The paper did experiments with silver olive bead and verified the feasibility of the design. Results of this study provides theoretical basis for further optimization of double-tool diamond faceting machine in the future.The research is of great significance to enhance China’s diamond faceting and promote industrial restructuring and upgrading.
