In the past few decades, polymer materials have been widely used with the characters of excellent performance, easy processing. However, with the depletion of oil resources, the development of polymer materials was curbed. Waste plant fiber/polymer composite material got human’s highly attention due to its ideal cost-effective, renewable and environmentally friendly, and many other advantages. As a new material, its process is far more difficult than ordinary plastic products.In this paper, used the vane extruder invented by professor Qu Jinping which based on the stretching flow. Forced the materials to been mixed and melted by changing the volume periodically. Having the advantage of shorter heated-mechanical history, so can reduce the degradation of plant fiber due to the strong shearing. It’s conducive to maintaining the aspect ratio of plant fiber and benefit to the orientation of plant fiber.Because it’s based on the stretching flow, the degree of orientation of fiber, the change of aspect ratio, the dispersion of the fiber in the matrix and the way of the fiber affecting on the molecular chain are different with the process of plasticizing transport under shear flow. Therefore, this article analysis the flow behavior in vane extruder by CFD software of POLYFLOW to obtain the in the vane unit. Then get the behavior of the fiber orientation by substituting the velocity distribution into the evolution equation of the fiber orientation distribution function and orientation tensor. In addition, studies on the effect of the rotating speed on the fiber orientation distribution function and the second order tensor, and verified the accuracy of the numerical simulation results.The results showed that the of the fiber by fiber orientation distribution function same to the orientation calculated by orientation tensor. The orientation of fiber is related to the type of flow and the rotating speed has little effect on the type of flow, so the rotating speed has little effect on the orientation of fiber. Finally, verified correctness the of the method of numerical simulation by the experiment in the vane extruder.
